Chilapata Forest-An ideal destination for a jungle weekend.

Are you a nature and wildlife fanatic who enjoys travelling? If it’s a  yes, Chilapata must be at the top of your list of places to visit. Chilapata is a deep forest that allows you to experience the excitement of viewing wild animals in their natural surroundings. Chilapata is a relatively new tourist destination. It is found in West Bengal’s Dooars region.

An Overview of the Chilapata Forest

The natural region of Chilapata Forest is highly forested. Jaldapara National Park and Buxa Tiger Reserve are connected via an elephant corridor. New Alipurduar is 38 kilometres away, while Hasimara town is just a few kilometres away. The well-known Jaldapara National Park is also close by.

Chilapata is a thickly forested area. A drive through the woods is an unforgettable adventure. The river Torsa rushes downwards from the hills into the Dooars lowlands, dividing the unbroken length of the forest into Jaldapara and Chilapata. Jaldapara has long been a famous tourist attraction due to its abundance of one-horned rhinos and elephants. Chilapata, on the other hand, has only recently attracted considerable attention. The area was once renowned for debauchery, but now it is safe to visit.

Fishing-eagle, Shikra, Crested eagle, Jungle-fowl peafowl, Partridge, Bengal florican, Paradise flycatcher, Racket-tailed drongo, and Pied hornbill are just a few of the colourful and fascinating birds that can be found in Chilapata. Because of the constant flapping of birds, the woodland is never quiet.
